Frame rate
Whenever I try and record anything using Screeny the framerate is really sluggish and sometimes it screen tears also. I've tried to record while playing games (Minecraft) and just while watching simple YouTube videos and it gets the same results. I'm running on a Macbook Pro i7 with upgraded RAM, it's a really decent set-up so I can't see it being performance based. Please get back to me

Hi Drew,
I downloaded the update and gave Screeny 1.1 a test run. Unfortunately, the videos I got are still sluggish and the screen tears from time to time.
I tried making 640 x 480 screencasts using the new frame rates. Each one was a slow, tearing, and pixelated video. :( I then tried making smaller sized videos, and saw that the quality is better. But what would be the point of making tiny screencasts, right?
I don't really know what to do to make Screeny work for me anymore. Any advice?

Hey Stephanie!
What frame rate are you recording in?
What computer do you have? (CPU and speed?)
Thanks!

Hi Drew,
I recorded from 30fps to 15, using the 640x480 sized frame. I'm using the newer Macbook Pro. Here's the hardware overview:
Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1 Processor Name: Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 4 GB
I sure hope this helps.

The exact same thing happens to me. MacBook 13 inch purchased in Feb 2011. When I start recording my % of CPU designated to Screeny BLASTS up to 134%. This is probably what is causing it. So if I play Minecraft and try to Screeny it. The fps on the game doesnt drop but when i playback the recording it tears and the frames drop to about 3. Please fix.

Is there still no update to Screeny? I've already upgraded to Lion, and am pretty sure that Screeny isn't compatible with the new OS.
If things don't work out, where can I go to request a refund for my purchase? Thanks.

Checkout the other discussions on this support site or follow @screenyapp on twitter for updates.
The lion update has been in review with apple since last Wednesday. Should go live on the store any day now.
Thanks!

Thanks Drew, but in case I don't want to use Screeny anymore because of problems and issues of the app despite the update, where can I go to request a refund for my purchase?
Support Staff 42 Posted by drew on 24 Jul, 2011 03:03 AM
Hey :)
Unfortunately apple does not offer refunds through and of their app stores. It is part of the terms that you agree to when you make an Apple ID. Since apple is the one you legally and technically buy the apps through, that is all up to them.
If screeny does not work for you after this next update please let me know. I'm sure this next update will work for you, and in case you missed screeny now automatically saves videos and images to the cloud or easy sharing :)
Thanks!

I'm having framerate issues as well. I recorded at video at 60 FPS and at 640x480 resolution, but the video was still lagging and becoming pixelated.
Running it on 13-inch 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook with 4GB of RAM.
Could it be because of my old graphic or video card... or something?
Support Staff 51 Posted by drew on 07 Sep, 2011 08:08 PM
Go ahead and try the recording at a lower frame rate. Recording at 60FPS is intense and requires a fast machine.
thanks :)

Same problem :
Here's my mac spec : Macbook Pro i7 2.7Ghz, 4GB RAM, Snow Loepard
I can't even get decent video quality in this settings : 320x240 px and 15FPS.
I've got pixelated screen. Check the attachment video

Hi Drew,
I'm having the same problems as Rio. Even at lower FPS and a smaller screen size, I'm still seeing the pixelated screen.
Thanks.

Any response from support staff ?
Support Staff 55 Posted by drew on 12 Sep, 2011 02:19 PM
How many programs are running at the same time as screeny?
Overloading the CPU and GPU can cause bad performance.

I start taking the video capture right after fresh system restart. ( 2.65GB Memory Free )

It's a disappointment that support staff did not respond to the issue.
Screeny developer should release a fix to make the app captures video properly in integrated GPU system.
